Effective Management of Allergic Rhinitis in a 24-Year-Old Female Through Homeopathic Intervention: A Case Study

 

A 24-year-old female (Registration number: ABS-33) visited Homeo Care Clinic on February 19, 2022, presenting with a history of allergic rhinitis persisting for the past 3 years. The patient experienced symptoms such as frequent sneezing (20–12 times at a stretch), a runny nose, heaviness in the head, and burning in the eyes. These symptoms worsened with exposure to dust, pollution, and strong odors, occurring 2-3 times a week and lasting the entire day.

Medical history

The patient disclosed a pre-existing medical condition of PCOD and exhibited a family history devoid of specific health issues.

Personal history

The patient described being thermally hot and thirsty, with a preference for sweet and salty foods. The patient also had a tendency to consume extra salt and reported normal sleep patterns.Mentally, the patient displayed a calm demeanor, occasional expression of anger, a tendency to overthink about the past and future, and a preference for listening in group settings.

Prescription

The prescription provided was Nat Mur 200, tailored to the patient’s overall constitution.

Follow-up updates

1. 09/04/2022: Initially, after 2 days of medication, a slight increase in sneezing and runny nose occurred, lasting for only 2 days and subsequently improving. Treatment continued.

2. 04/06/2022: Sneezing, head heaviness, runny nose, and burning in the eyes showed improvement. The medication was continued.

3. 15/08/2022: Further improvement was noted, with sneezing reduced to 1 or 2 episodes at a time. Head heaviness, burning in the eyes, and runny nose also improved, occurring only once a month. Treatment continued.

4. 06/11/2022: Significant improvement in sneezing, complete resolution of burning in the eyes, and alleviation of runny nose and head heaviness were reported. Symptom intensity markedly reduced, and the patient continued with the prescribed treatment.
